Ref Number: 121
The Rotunda “Seal” is an elevated platform that offers a stunning 360-degree view of the whole Varna Bay. It is the sole remaining part of the previous “Trakata” observation deck. Within the rotunda, there is an additional monument dedicated to a monk of the seal species. This monument is situated in close proximity to the junction leading to the Trakata region along the route to Evksinograd. The memorial is situated within the central portion of a stone arch that was constructed during the 1960s.
The arch and the monument were constructed upon the finalisation of the primary thoroughfare connecting Varna to the resorts, serving as a crowning achievement for the extensive undertaking. The stone gazebo and the seal statue are crafted in the traditional style commonly found in Black Sea resorts during the mid-20th century. Originally, the location was designed for leisure and capturing wide-ranging photographs, and even now several travellers pause to appreciate the extensive vista.
