The lines consist of both documented, named roads (such as the Via Appia or Via Militaris) and highways that lack a recognized historical designation (in which case they have been imaginatively fabricated).
What is the real time required to transverse this network? The answer to that question is very contingent upon the mode of transportation you choose, which is in turn determined by your financial resources. Another significant issue is the season – each season has its unique set of obstacles. During the summer, it would need several weeks to traverse the distance from Rome to Byzantium on foot. With the possession of a horse, the duration required to complete the task would be reduced to a mere week.
Nevertheless, any rational Roman would not solely rely on roads when there is the option of sea transport. Utilizing a horse and sailboat in tandem, one could traverse the distance between Odessus and Byzantium in around 5-6 days, and between Rome and Carthage in 7-8 days, at a significantly reduced cost and increased speed compared to alternative modes of transportation. The other roads have relatively uncreative names that Sasha has invented, usually based on a place that they pass through. The designer has never formally studied Latin and he admits that he is somewhat confused by the distinction between -a and -ensis endings, so there’s a chance that some are not as accurate as they should be.
