The Varna Hairiye Mosque an architectural project authored by architect Dabko Dabkov in 1925
Ref Number: 180
The historic district of Varna houses several temples representing diverse religions, reflecting the city’s international nature. The Khairiye Mosque, constructed in the 19th century, is among them, during Varna’s tenure as part of the Ottoman Empire.
Constructed by Dilaver Pasha in 1251 of the Egira, equivalent to 1835, following the retreat of Russian forces during the 1828-29 war. A madrasa, a Turkish educational institution, was constructed adjacent to the mosque.
The original structure is no longer extant, since the Muslim community opted to construct a new temple in 1925, replacing the previous one. The architectural proposal is authored by the renowned Varna architect Dabko Dabkov.
