Ethnographic Museum

The Ethnographic Museum opened in 1974 in a refurbished National Revival-era home. The collection of items, which includes clothing, jewelry, and others, demonstrates the diversity of lifestyle and cultural heritage among the people who lived in the Varna area in the latter half of the nineteenth century and the early twentieth century.

1st Floor – Farming, fishing, beekeeping, livestock breeding, winemaking, and grape growing are only some of the primary trades shown on the first level. There are also various examples of items and instruments used in common professions.

2nd Floor: Typical national costumes that showcase the fascinating culture of the area may be seen on the second level. Also on exhibit are belt buckles, belts, rings, bracelets, etc., that may be worn with the featured garments. Wedding, Christmas, New Year’s Day, St. George’s Day, Easter, “Petlyov” Day, St. Lazarus Day, and other traditional rituals and family reunions are shown using folk clothes and ceremonial items.

3rd Floor: A lavish urban dwelling, complete with bedrooms, kitchen, and living room, is shown on the penultimate level. Visitors may learn about the economic growth of Varna via a series of photographs depicting the city before modern development. In addition to the exhibits, the museum has a gift store.
