Dr. Jonas Basanavičius residence 3 Krastyu Mirski Street

Near the main square of Varna is Krastyu Mirski Street, where some interesting old buildings have been preserved. Among them is the building at number 3. It was built in the 1880s as the home of Dimitar Berkovski. The famous Lithuanian doctor, public figure and politician Dr. Jonas Basanovićus lived as a tenant in this building for many years.

Honored as a national hero “The Patriarch of the nation ” in Lithuania, he is also considered one of the famous citizens of Varna from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
