May 31st to July 14th – 1854 The mass expansion and concentration of troop around Varna begins
The allied troops proceed to Varna and establish their camps at Franka, the Frangen plateau, and the surrounding foothills. The French army travels to Varna using both land and sea routes.
The 3rd Infantry Division is en route to Constantinople, traveling through Rodosto and Silivria, subsequently, they board the vessels bound for Varna. A second division of soldiers, together with a significant portion of the artillery and all of the cavalry, departed from Adrianople and Aitos to travel to Varna. The First and Fourth Infantry Divisions sequentially embarked on the ships at Gallipoli.
A Fifth Infantry Division, under the leadership of General Lavaian, was established on June 12th. She embarks aboard the vessels in Marseille and navigates to Varna during the months of June and July.

Piraeus Capture
At this time, a brigade led by General Maierand was deployed to Piraeus, taking up the position formerly held by the 74th Infantry Regiment of the Line. The division commanded by Fauré then took the same position for several days.
On July 21, 1854, there were military exercises taking place in Dobruja.
General Yusuf commanded the Spahis from the Orient, who were sent ahead of the first three infantry divisions to Dobrudja. The bashibozuk corps, which was constituted by an Imperial Decree on June 24, 1854, constitutes the later corps.
Under the leadership of Brigadier-General Espinas, the first division advanced into Dobrudja after General Canrober was removed. They embarked on the ship “Caradoc” and sailed to survey a section of the Crimean peninsula’s coastline. The second segment proceeds towards Mangalia, via Bazardzhik its route to Rasova. The Third Division is proceeding towards Bazardzhik by way of Kulurgis.
