The Astronaut Alley is situated in close proximity to the Pantheon. Planting a coniferous tree has been a customary practice for visiting astronauts.
Yuri Gagarin planted the inaugural tree on May 26, 1961. It signifies the commencement of the tradition.
The silver fir, initially planted by the inaugural astronaut, has since withered and undergone many replacements. However, it is possible to observe certain coniferous trees that were planted by previous astronauts to this day. The list of Russian astronauts includes the names of Bulgarian astronauts Georgi Ivanov and Alexander Alexandrov.
A few years ago, the damaged marble slabs were substituted with more humble ones. Within the alley, you will encounter a display of names:
