Ref Number: 36
The modest 19th century Armenian Church of “St. Sarkis” is tucked into the corner of a schoolyard just past the intersection of Khan Kroum and St. Clement streets. The Church, which serves a small population of roughly 3,000 people, has beautiful icons covered in Armenian lettering.
A modest tablet outside the Armenian church commemorates the genocide of 1915, when up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottomans, implying a shared history of pain in which Armenians and Bulgarians can find common cause.
