National Revival Alley

In 1907 the idea of monuments to be erected  in the city of National Revival and our fighters for national liberation was conceived by a group of young Varna citizens. On February 15, 1908 they established Committee of the Bulgarian Revival, which sets itself the task to build a National Revival Alley in the marine garden. Part of the Statute of the committee states, "The aim of the committee is to raise up in the sea garden of Varna 22 monuments, of which 20  of Bulgarian Revival activists since the liberation, a monument of science or Revival and one of Freedom.". Some of these monuments were not unveiled, some of today`s Alley of National Revival have never even been on the list of the committee. Today there are 14 monuments. In the order of their unveiling:

  • Metropolitan Simeon - August 10, 1930
  • Vasil Aprilov - October 7, 1936
  • Hadji Dimitar - August 2, 1939

  • Luben Kravelov - June 2, 1973
  • Petko Slaveikov -2 June 1973
