Monument to Vasil Levski

REF NR: 1806

After the unveiling of the first monument on the National Revival Alley, the next year on July 27, 1912 the monument of Vasil Levski was inaugurated. Like the monument of Hristo Botev it was done by the sculptor Zheko Spiridonov. After the prayer in the cathedral church dedicated to the 34 anniversary of the liberation of Varna, then Mayor Alexander Vassilev unveiled the memorial of the Apostle. Months after the inauguration the Balkan War began. On the west side of the pedestal is inscribed "His words were simple and concise, full hope so sweet" and on the east side "This black cassock, I wear on top, does not reconcile me with these skies ..."
