Roman Street

REF NR: 10361

Segment of a street from the Roman Odessos, 1st - 3rd century. Its position suggests that it was at the end of the city. The street is covered with slabstones. A circular pumping shaft set up for the sewerage beneath the level of the street is preserved.

A marble slab, most probably a fragment from a sarcophagus, was reused in the pavement. On it still can be seen a picture of a commercial ship in relief.

So far several segments of ancient streets were discovered but the preserved archaeological remains are not enough to rebuild the whole street netwrok of the city.
