The daughter of a French military officer, participant in the Crimean war of 1853 – 1856, built the French Girls’ Boarding House (on Stephen Karadzha Street) at the beginning of 20th c. (architect Michel Pernigoni), to provide shelter for orphans. Nowadays it represents the College of Tourism and the School of Arts.
