The building was constructed in 1889 by the Swedish shipping agent Paicurich as a casino and hotel on Ferdinand Boulevard (modern-day Primorski Boulevard). In 1991 it became the Italian Consular Office and since 1955/56 it has housed the Naval Museum in Varna.
