The Grand Hotel Musalla

REF NR: 10430

This iconic building for Varna was constructed in 1927 by the design of arch. Dabko Dabkov. The owner of this former grand hotel was a wealthy entrepreneur called Metodi Gandev, who lived for 25 years in New York, where he was very much impressed by the Flatiron building.

When Metodi Gandev returned to Bulgaria in 1925 he commissioned arch. Dabkov to visit New York, to see the Flatiron building and to create something similar in Varna. Two years later grand hotel “Musalla” was opened for public.
